Air – Modification of drum inspection & filtering procedures
The Direction Générale de l’Aviation Civile informs us that, following recent experiments, it has been found that screening by dog teams does not reasonably guarantee the absence of prohibited articles in hermetically sealed containers over 25 liters, such as drums, canisters, jerrycans, etc.
It is now compulsory for exporters to complete the questionnaire that will serve as the basis for authorizing screening until September 30, 2024. During this transitional period, the shipment of consignments will be maintained, giving the exporters concerned time either to become a known shipper or to modify their packaging.
On receipt of the questionnaire, the DGAC will notify exporters that their complete questionnaire has been received.
From April 1, 2024, in the absence of notification of receipt of the questionnaire, exporters will no longer be able to ship goods in these types of packaging by air. The DGAC strongly encourages exporters to send in the questionnaire before March 1, and to apply for known shipper status so that they can continue to ship their consignments by air.
